How the Color Temperature Meter Works

The tool samples the center of the camera image, converts the measured RGB values to approximate CIE chromaticity coordinates and estimates correlated color temperature.

The result is an estimate. Phone camera auto white balance, exposure and image processing can materially affect the Kelvin reading. Use a calibrated color meter or spectrometer when traceable accuracy is required.
