Cyanide Calculator
Definition: In the titrimetric method, cyanide in the alkaline distillate is titrated with standardized silver nitrate. The endpoint is detected with a silver-sensitive indicator.
CN⁻ (mg/L) =
[(A − B) × 1000 / V] × (250 / P)
A = AgNO₃ used for sample (mL)
B = AgNO₃ used for blank (mL)
V = original sample volume (mL)
P = distillate portion used for titration (mL)
Method basis: Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater, Method 4500-CN⁻ D — Titrimetric Method. The standardized AgNO₃ titrant is adjusted so that 1.00 mL is equivalent to 1.00 mg CN⁻.
