Definition: This chart visualize the trend in global plastic production from 1951 to 2022, covering various types of plastics like thermoplastics, polyurethanes, thermosets, elastomers, adhesives, coatings, sealants, and PP-fibers. It excludes PET-, PA-, and polyacryl-fibers from 1951 to 2018.

Starting from 2018, it also excludes polymers not used in making plastic parts and products (i.e. quantities used for adhesives, sealants, coatings, paints, varnishes, textiles, waterproofing, or within the production of cosmetics, medicines or chemical processes).
