Method:
The Shannon diversity index accounts for both species richness and the relative abundance of each species.
H′ = −Σ (pᵢ × ln pᵢ)
where pᵢ is the proportion of individuals belonging to species i.
Pielou’s evenness is calculated as: J′ = H′ / ln(S) where S is species richness. Evenness is not defined when only one species is present.
