How Is CST Converted to IST?
The CST to IST time conversion depends on the applicable U.S. Central Time offset for the selected date. India Standard Time (IST) is UTC+5:30 throughout the year, while U.S. Central Time changes between CST (UTC−6) and CDT (UTC−5) during daylight saving time.
This converter uses the selected date to determine whether Central Time is observing standard time or daylight saving time and then calculates the corresponding time in India Standard Time.
CST and IST Time Difference
When the U.S. Central Time zone is on CST (UTC−6), India Standard Time is 11 hours 30 minutes ahead. When Central Time is on CDT (UTC−5), IST is 10 hours 30 minutes ahead.

Why Does the CST to IST Difference Change?
U.S. Central Time observes daylight saving time during part of the year. During this period, the time zone uses Central Daylight Time (CDT), which is UTC−5 instead of CST at UTC−6.
Because IST remains fixed at UTC+5:30, the time difference between India and the U.S. Central Time zone changes by one hour when daylight saving time begins or ends.
Can CST to IST Conversion Change the Date?
Yes. Adding the time difference can move the converted time into the following calendar day. The converter therefore displays both the converted time and the corresponding date.
This is particularly important when converting evening or late-night Central Time to IST, because the result may fall on the next day in India.

Daylight Saving Time Transition
