How the Level & Slope Meter Works

The tool uses your device orientation sensor to measure tilt along two axes. The combined tilt angle is calculated from those readings and converted into slope percentage and gradient ratio.

Slope percentage is calculated as: tan(angle) × 100. Gradient is shown in the form 1 : n, representing approximately one unit of rise for every n units of horizontal run.

Use Set Zero when you want to measure slope relative to a particular surface or device position rather than the phone’s absolute orientation.

Accuracy depends on the phone’s motion sensors, calibration, case, mounting position and device orientation. Use calibrated surveying or construction instruments where traceable accuracy is required.
