Total Suspended Solids (TSS) Calculator
Definition: Total Suspended Solids (TSS) represents the concentration of suspended particles retained by a filter after a measured volume of water or wastewater is filtered and the retained residue is dried.
TSS (mg/L) = [(A − B) × 1000] / V
Where A is the weight of the filter plus dried residue in mg, B is the weight of the clean filter in mg, and V is the sample volume in mL.
Method basis: Gravimetric determination of suspended solids, consistent with commonly used Standard Methods procedures for examination of water and wastewater.
